  • Apple Pie Baking Instructional Video

Have a look a this entertaining and instructional "how to" video. The kitchen is smaller (and less messy) but it looks a lot like how we bake our pies.

  • Selling Tool to help pre-sale effort

The Troop 125 Apple Pie Marketing Team has prepared a promotional flyer for you, the Second to None sales team to use in your Pre-sale effort, as you canvas your neighbood and email-blast your relative. Please see the attached.

    Start thinking 7.

and how easy it would be to get to 11.

  • Your Apple Pre-Sale Effort=Happiness AND a Huge Profit for the Troop

Please note that a large percentage of our fundraising profit comes from the pies that we pre-sell.

Your friends, neigbors and family love the apple pies, the apple cake, the cherry pies -- and there is no better way to ensure a crumb-top pie than to PRE ORDER!

Use the attached form to bring happiness to a minimum of SEVEN families by selling SEVEN items. Of course, seven is just the minimum. Now then, if you are the kind of person who is content with achieving the bare minimum, well then, that's cool. No peer pressure here.

  • Apple Pie Spice Night 2008

Troop 125 COME ONE, COME ALLTO PARTICPANT IN THE SPICIEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR! SPICE NIGHT 2008  We measure and bag the spices and dry ingredients that go into our apple pies ahead of time. This makes pie assembly much quicker and easier. We need volunteers to assist with this. The more people (14-16) helping the quicker we’ll get done.  FYI: This would be in addition to your dough/pie making and selling shifts. Older scouts can volunteer for this also, but please no children under the age of 12. If possible please bring measuring spoons (1/8, ¼ tsp) and small and/or medium size bowls to use for the evening. Thank you!  To sign up email Laurie asap:  lsimon-sez@sbcglobal.net    When:        Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30 pm – 10 pm Where:      Paula Torrente (Anthony Spears mom)     ph# 586/323-1969                    49603 Shelby Creek Dr   Shelby Township   48317    If you have any questions contact:  Paula - 586/323-1969,  Pam - 248/652-6003 or Laurie - 248/601-1141.  THANK YOU!

Each family is required to work five 3 hour shifts of dough &/or pie-making shifts, plus one 3 hour shift of pie selling on Sunday, this new this year, you now have one less hour of selling shifts. We will also be having “Spice Night” where we mix our spices together a week or so before pie making. So keep an eye out for an email with further information on that. Spice Night only takes a couple of hours when we have plenty of volunteers (14-16.)

**FYI to all, including leaders: Please read, as there are some changes and new information from last year: We cannot raise the price of our pies, yet cost of ingredients and supplies go up every year. The only way we can counter act that and still raise the funds we need to run the troop is to increase the number of pies we make. As much has we want this to be as enjoyable as possible we have to make sure we’re staying focused and productive, So, in an effort to increase the productivity & pie output and in turn increase the money we raise for the troop we are requesting the following:

    1. One of several ways we can use our time more wisely and increase productivity will be to decrease the number of shifts/hours scouts and other kids work. We love having the scouts participate, but this fundraiser has always been the parent’s responsibility. Having lots of scouts/kids there, some of who are not quite capable to do this kind of work, slows the process down. So this means only scouts & siblings 13 and older are to participate. Any questions or concerns regarding this please feel to call Pam or Laurie to discuss further.
    2. Of the scouts who do attend, they must work their whole shifts and unless they are 15 years or older, must be accompanied with a parent, no exceptions! Only scouts 15 years old or older can work Sunday selling shifts. If they are working parking that day please make arrangements for them when they are done, we cannot have them hanging around the selling tent during your whole shift.
    3. Since we need a certain number of volunteers for each shift, we need to make sure everyone is working their full shifts. So for example, if you sign up 4 people to work then we are counting on 4 people working their whole shift. If one of them stops working and/or doesn’t complete their whole shift, then are short handed, even if it looks like we have plenty of volunteers.
    4. Also leaders & other adults, if you are there just to take pictures then I cannot count that as a pie making shift and will need to schedule accordingly to make I have enough people on each so please let me know if you are there to make pies or take pictures. Also, I ask that you do your picture taking with the least disruption to the pie making as possible, please. As stated above we need a certain number of people working on pies to achieve our goal. The more people we have, working as fast as possible the more likely the goal will be met.
    5. If it turns out you can’t sign up until the last minute or didn’t sign up at all, please still call us to see where we need help the most, rather than just showing up and leaving at random times.

    Thank you!

  • Experienced Parents: We Need Help on the Pie Committee

We are in need of Coordinators for each step of pie making, i.e. Dough Night, Pie Making and Selling. This does not have to be a one person job; two of you can get together and share the duties. Below is a brief description for each coordinator. Pam and Laurie will be available to assist and support all coordinators. The success of this fundraiser is dependent on some parents taking a little bit bigger role and becoming a member of the Pie Committee. What we need, on the pie committee:

    Dough Night

Thursday Sept. 4: 2 people to share the set up & clean up, and on-site operating including picking up supplies from GFS earlier that day. Main time commitment is Thurs from 3pm-10pm. Make sure dough balls get to GFS for overnight storage.

    Pie Making

Fri & Sat Sept. 5 & 6: 2 or 3 people to share on-site operating of pie-making and baking. Pick up supplies from GFS Friday before 2pm, set up & clean up. Main time commitment is Fri from 2pm-11pm and Sat from 8am-8pm, but those hours can be split among the 2-3 people. *Currently we have one volunteer so far, Mrs. Iglesias, thank you*

    Selling

Sunday Sept. 7: 2 people to share on site set-up and sales at the Park on Sunday, plus clean up & tear-down. Main time commitment is 7am-6pm Sun, plus some time on Saturday late afternoon/early evening for ice cream pickup if necessary and to pick up supplies from GFS. Misc. Jobs Transportation; pickup refrigerated truck, transport lumber, taking supplies back to the Troop storage, etc. Return truck Sunday evening.

    Spice Night

We have a volunteer to host Spice Night, thank you Paula Torrente for the second year in a row! We will have a meeting for those interested in any of the above positions, the last week of July. Please let us know a.s.a.p. which day of that week you’re available and we will announce the place, date & time as soon as it is set. If you want to join the committee but know you won’t be available that week at all for the meeting, please just let us know and we can meet when you’re available.

**Please note that these positions need to be filled by parents who have been though the pie making event at least once before. And the agenda the meeting is just for discussing those positions. If you’re thinking it’s too big of a job, please plan to attend anyway so we can answer any questions you may have. If you share the job with someone else it’s not as much as you may think.**

Our Scoutmasters and committee members give generously of their time all year round to make Troop 125 a very active, dynamic, fun and successful troop for our boys. The Apple Pie Fundraiser is when we parents give back generously of our time to fund the troop expenses for the year. For further information or to help, please contact either of the following:

  • Web site maintenance over the next few days

We're in the process of making some improvements to the Troop 125 Web site, including a transition to a new hosting company. As a result, some features of the site may not work just right, or at all. I'd also like to ask folks to hold off adding any new files until we get things sorted out. If anyone needs a blog post/announcement delivered, please email me at scott.schuster@cvctroop125.org .

    Thanks,

    Scott
