  • More on the Troop Family Picnic

So . . .  we hope you all have Sunday June 7th marked on the family calendar for the Troop 125 Picnic!

This starts at about 4 PM in Stoney Creek Park.    We will be at "Winter Cove B" Pavilion.  This is on the west side of the lake.    If you take the circle road around the south side, go past the boat launch area - and turn at the first possible RH turn (but this is probably 2/3 of a mile beyond the launch area).   You'll need to have a sticker or pay the daily use fee ($4 per car) at the gate.

Troop will provide:   Burgers, 'dogs, buns, fixings', lemonade, plates and plasticware.

We hope you'll bring:     FAMILY - parents, siblings, etc are all invited!

A dish of your choice for the "potluck" - salad, side dish, deserts, etc

Any other beverages you want for your family

All your picnic-at-the-park toys . . . frisbees, kites, softball equipment, etc

Class B t-shirt for the Scouts

Any questions, feel free to call Terry Connolly  (248-652-2579).     Also feel free to arrive and depart as suits your schedule . . . we'll be there at least until 7 pm.

Committee Members- we spoke of need for very brief Committee meeting.    Would like to suggest all of you try to be there by 3:30 and we will intend to have very brief exchange (which I think is all that is necessary!).

  • Computers Merit Badge - Visit Dassault Systemes DELMIA Corp.

Boy Scouts are invited to visit my workplace:

    Dassault Systemes DELMIA Corp
    900 N. Squirrel Rd
    Auburn Hills, MI 48326

on Monday June 22 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.

This visit counts towards requirements no. 7 and no. 9 of the Computers Merit Badge.  This visit is worthwhile even if you don't plan on completing the Merit Badge.  One of our staff, trained to work with students, will give you a hands-on presentation of the exciting 3D simulation software we build.  In fact, this visit might motivate you to finish the Computers badge!

If you are interested, please let me know by emailing nsmerchawi@gmail.com.  ( I need to know how many to expect ).  You need to provide your own transportation.

  • Troop Family Picnic Sunday June 7th

Just want to plug a date into your busy family weekend schedules!    On Sunday June 7th, we will do our annual Troop picnic starting at 4 pm.   We'll probably run it about 3 hrs, but obviously stay as long as you want.    This is a family event, parents and siblings invited!!     As in the past, the Troop Committee will be "sponsoring" this with burgers and dogs, paper/tableware, and lemonade.     We'd ask your family to bring a dish to pass of your choice (e.g. side dishes, salads, desserts, etc) and then any other (nonalcoholic) drinks you may want for your family.

This has been a fun interaction for families in past years.   Bring your "picnic toys" and be ready for softball, etc.        We expect to do this at Stoney Creek Park and will shortly have out a specific pavilion and map.       Hope you can join us!

  • 2009 Summer Camp- Fees "Reminder Notice"

The balance for camping fees are now past due. If you have not already remitted the balance, now is a good time to make that happen. Please either mail to Don Balmes or remit to Bill Burlingame.

My home address is listed the permission form.

The troop must submit the balance to the council office by 6-1-2009 in order to avoid additional late payment fees.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions.

  • Summer Camp Medical Forms

This is a reminder that all the boys going to Summer Camp must have their medical form signed by a physician within the last three years.  Adults over 40 need the medical form signed by a physician within the last year.  These forms need to be given to me as soon as possible.

  • Hiking Merit Badge - 20 miler

Save the date!! For those boys that have participated in the Easter Smokey/AT hikes and/or Philmont, here's an opportunity to complete the last requirement for the Hiking merit badge. You should all have completed the required 5 and 10 mile hikes and should be able to complete the 'book work'. Only thing remaining is a 20 Mile hike. A 20 Mile hike is scheduled for Saturday, July 18th at this time. We will hike the Paint Creek Trail starting in downtown Rochester, head up to Lake Orion for lunch, and return. Plan on starting at 8:00am and returning about 5:00pm. No packs required. Just water bottles and lunch if you don't want to buy it in Lake Orion. Permission slips and further info to follow but lock the date. This hike is also good for those younger scouts that may go on a future spring extended hike to get this requirement completed. Remember that the Hiking Merit Badge is an Eagle merit badge 'optional' with Cycling and Swimming (I believe).

  • Action required for scouts going to summer camp: Make your merit selections NOW

Sign up now and have a chance to get the merit badges you want. • Lucas Mitchell-Can Drive

Thanks so much to all of the scouts who helped me out with the can drive last Wednesday. We raised over $200. I will be doing another can drive this coming Monday, May 11th from 5 to 7. If you can help out, please contact me.

I will also be installing irrigation the day before (Sunday, May 10th) from noon to 6 pm. Unfortunately, that is Mother's Day, but if you are willing to volunteer a few hours (you don't necessarily have to come for the whole time, just whatever you can make it to), contact me for more information.

    Thanks, Lucas Mitchell
