  • Mackinac Island Honor Guard Photos and Video have been posted

    Trouble with Shutterfly?

There is some confusion about how our shutterfly photo share web site works.

Access to our share requires a free shutterfly account. You can use this account for any photos you wish, and choose only to share scout-related photos with the troop. Likewise, access to the Troop photo share does NOT give the troop access to all your photos on shutterfly.

To view photos go to http://troop125photos.shutterfly.com/ and login using the same email address this message was sent to

To share photos, upload your photos to an album on your personal shutterfly account (the one associated with the email address I mentioned above) and choose "share." The Troop 125 Photo share site should be one of the options you have for sharing photos.

Confusion can arise when you have another shutterfly account associated with a different email address. If you want me to send you another "invitation" to a different address, please reply to this email and let me know.

    Where are the Philmont photos?

It would be great to see some Philmont photos on the photo sharing site. Please share!

    Thanks,

    Scott Schuster

  • Shift Sign Up ~ Second Request

2ND REQUEST!   If you are no longer a memeber of Troop 125 please let me know ASAP!

Please sign up for your Apple Pie making shifts now, as this is a first come first serve process!  If yopou have a preferred shift you better sign up for it now or you will be scheduled where we need the help the most.

There are some changes this year, with some additional selling hours having been added. On Friday & Saturday the troop will be selling pies for PCCA, these are not the pies made by our troop. At the same time we will be making our Troop 125 Mile-high pies as usual. With the addition of the Friday & Saturday selling shifts we are counting on the older scouts, maybe even those who have transitioned out, to step up and put some selling time in.
The requirement this year, for each family will be to work five (5) shifts of dough, pie-making, or selling, this is mandatory. The 5 shifts can be any combination of dough, pie-making or selling, but must total 5 for your family, you can have others do shifts for or with you like grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors etc.

*Please read this complete flyer as it will give you more information on who can work this event. I will try to limit the number of emails going out on this and the quicker you all respond the less I have to email reminders.

    Thursday  September 10 – Dough Night: 4-8pm
    Friday       September  11 - Pie Making:  2-5, 5-8, 8-11pm
    Friday       September  11 – Selling:  4-8pm
    Saturday   September 12 – Pie Making:  8-11am, 11-2, 2-5, 5-8
    Saturday   September 12 – Selling:  8:30am-12, 12-4, 4-8pm
    Sunday     September 13 – Pie Selling:   8:30-11:30am, 11:30-2:30, 2:30-5pm

To schedule your shifts: The best way is to email your requested shifts, I will email back if there is an issue with your request. If you call, please leave a detailed message and if need be, I can call or email you back.

In an effort to increase the productivity and increase the money we make for the troop we are requesting the following:

    • One of the ways we can use our time more wisely and increase productivity will be to decrease the number of shifts/hours scouts and other kids work. We love having the scouts participate, but this fundraiser has always been the parent’s responsibility. Having lots of scouts/kids there, some of whom are not quite capable to do this kind of work, slows the process down. Only scouts or siblings13 yrs and older are allowed to participate, any exceptions made would have to be discussed with Diane Iglesias.
    • Of the scouts/kids who do attend, they must work their whole shifts and unless they are an 11th grader or older, must be accompanied with a parent, no exceptions! Only scouts 16 years old or older can work selling shifts, in fact we are putting out a special request for all older scouts; we really need your help for these extra selling shifts!
    • If any scouts are working parking on selling days please make arrangements for them when they are done, we cannot have them hanging around the selling tent, even if you are there working your selling shift!   Since we need a certain number of volunteers for each shift, we need to make sure everyone is working their required amount. So for example, if you sign up 4 people to work, then we are counting on 4 people working their whole shift. If one of them stops working and/or doesn’t complete their whole shift, then we are short handed, even if it looks like we have plenty of volunteers.
    • If it turns out you can’t sign up until the last minute or didn’t sign up at all, please still call to see where we need help the most, rather than just showing up and leaving at random times.

    Thank you!

  • Pie Fundraiser-clarification for new parents & reminder for all others

Clarification for new parents & reminder for all others:

Each family must work 5 shifts, this can be done in any combination you'd like. If you want to do all selling or pie making, you can, or combine some of each task you can do that. Now 5 shifts doesn't mean all family members work 5 shifts, it means 5 shifts per family, so you could have one parent do all 5 shifts or get grandparents, Aunt, Uncle, neighbors or other adults to help you fulfill the 5 shift requirement. This way, if you have younger children someone can be home with them. Which brings me to my next subject, Children, including scouts under the age of 13, cannot be at these work shifts. There is a lot of work to be done and no way for you or anyone else there to keep an eye on them.

Contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding this.

    Thank you,

    Laurie

  • Spice Night August 19 at 7 pm: Volunteers Needed, Please Respond

As you all know, our Apple Pie Fundraiser is getting closer!  I wanted to let you know that Jeff and Sara Orzechowski will be hosting Spice Night at their house, 6878 Mountain Dr. Troy 48098 on Wednesday, August 19 at 7 pm.   For those of you who are new to this, at Spice Night we mix up and individually package the sugar and spices for each individual pie.  This is important in order for our "assembly line" to run efficiently when we make the actual pies.

We need volunteers for Spice Night.  In the past this has gone fast and we can usually get everything done in a couple of hours.  I need to remind you, though, that helping on Spice Night doesn't count in the hours you are obligated to work,  but it can be a lot of fun and is especially a good way to connect with other families in the troop.  Please email me at artisticframing@comcast.net that you can come!  Any questions-call me at 248-853-0778.

    Thanks!  Diane Iglesias

Email your responses to Diane via  artisticframing@comcast.net

A Note from the Troop: Without many busy people like you volunteering their time and talent, Troop 125 would not be able to deliver the great experiences that it does. Please consider responding to these requests for help with a quick email, if only to say I can't make this one. This will save our commitee chairpeople a great deal of stress, work and ultimately cut down on the number of emails and phone calls they need make. It can be challenging to mobilize a group our size so please consider a courteous, prompt reply.
