  • Troop Meeting Tuesday: Rehearsal for Christmas Caroling and Laser Tag

    Tuesday, December 1

Bring your musical instruments and singing voices to the meeting this Tuesday Dec. 1. One of our activities will be practice for the following Tuesday's Christmas Caroling at Sunrise Senior Living. You don't have to be perfect (or even really good) - the Seniors love having us perform! This is guaranteed to get you into the true spirit of Christmas. Please ask your band director if he/she has any Christmas music for your instrument. We have words to the songs, but no notes. We expecially need a piano player - can anyone help (including parents or siblings)? If you can't attend this meeting, you can still come next Tuesday.

Please let SPL Kevin Sim's know what instrument you want to play. Call or text his cell 248-672-5049 or email kbsims54@gmail.com

    Tuesday, December 8

We will meet in the Rochester Hills Public Library parking lot AT 6:15 PM and walk across the street to Sunrise Senior Living. Wear your class A uniform. Bring your instrument. After singing and playing Christmas Carols for the Seniors, we will go to Zap Zone Laser Tag in Waterford. Permission slips will be posted later. Note that you MUST attend the Christmas Caroling to go to the Laser Tag party.

  • Patrol Rosters

  • This Saturday - After the Turkey and Pigroast . . .

On behalf of Troop 125, I want to ask for your support of Scouting.    In 1910 Lord Robert Baden Powell formed a program that went on to become the largest youth service program in the world.  For 100 years Scouting has taught youth the “Words to Live By” in order to become more productive citizens and leaders of the world.  What are those words – The Scout Oath and the Scout Law! Scout Oath:                                                                         Scout Law – A Scout is:On my honor I will do my best                                           Trustworthy          Obedient
To do my duty to God and my country                              Loyal                      Cheerful
and to obey the Scout Law;                                                  Helpful                   Thrifty
To help other people at all times;                                        Friendly                 Brave
To keep myself physically strong,                                       Courteous              Clean
mentally awake, and morally straight                                Kind                       Reverent
Behind every Scout is a parent/guardian that encourages him to remain active in the program and dedicated Scouting volunteers that help train youth in outdoor skills, servant leadership, citizenship, and more.  What you may not know, is that this requires a significant infrastructure to operate in support of units like Troop 125. The Great Lakes Council (just changed from Clinton Valley Council) serves over 32,000 youth and 10,000 adult volunteers that are registered in Scouting.  The council provides camping programs and facilities (Lost Lake Scout Reservation and Camp Agawam), training for youth and adult leaders, aid in program development and recruiting, a professional and support staff to answer questions, track advancement, handle reservations, and much more.  The council also works to spread the Scouting programs to under-served areas and demographic groups within our area striving to make the Scouting movement available and accessible to all. On Saturday November 21, we will speak more about this after the Thanksgiving Feast at Burlingame Farm.   This is a fun family event, and we hope you’ll be there – regardless of your family’s ability to offer financial support to Scouting!   (See our Troop website for details if you are not already aware.) But we hope many of you will consider a gift.   I ask you to join me in supporting the Great Lakes Council through the annual Friends of Scouting campaign.    Beyond our Troop 125 budget, it costs the Council approximately $155 per year, per scout to operate these programs.     We ask that you consider this amount as a pledge for 2010.   Some of you may be able to do more, some perhaps less.     Thank you in advance for your support.  Sincerely, Terry Connolly, Troop 125 Committee Chair (and 2010 Friends of Scouting Volunteer!)
