  • Last Call - Save money and pre-register for Centennial Rendez-Vous - due Thursday

Hopefully you are planning on going to the Centennial Rendez-Vous on September 24 - 26, 2010. Only Berklich's, Holloway's, and Mr. V. have pre-registered so far. Mr. V. will send in reservations this Friday. Here are the pre-registration fees, which do not include the Troop 125 fees. The family rate is especially attractive if you have 3 or more participants.

One participant: $25 now, $35 later.

Two participants: $50 now, $70 later.

Three participants (from same family): $60 now, $105 later

Four participants (from same family): $75 now, $140 later.

Call, text, or e-mail Mr. V. NOW with your reservation. You may turn in your money at the swim test. Reservations are non-refundable, but may be transfered to another Troop 125 participant that did not pre-register. Mr. Verlinde -  home: (248) 651-4031  cell: (248) 515-2371   e-mail: dverlinde@comcast.net  I will confirm your reservation so let me know if you don't get a confirmation.

See earlier announcement for more details about the Centennial Rendezvoux.

  • Summer Camp Name Stakes

Hello Troop 125! I just wanted to let everyone know that this year at summer camp we are requiring everyone to have a name stake that they can place outside of their tent. It could be as simple as a name on a stick or as elaborate as you would like. It might even be a good idea to make these at your patrol meetings this week! No matter how you decide to do it, they must be made by summer camp. Have a nice week! Matt Rolain
  • Patrol Meetings This Week

This is just a reminder that this week everyone needs to have a patrol meeting. There are 2 things that need to be accomplished at this meeting: patrol flags need to be made and you need to plan your gateway for summer camp. You don't necessarily have to have your meeting on Tuesday, but you need to have one some day this week! Attention Patrol Leaders: After you have the meeting you need to report to me how many people showed up. This will prove to me that you had your meeting! Have fun at your meetings! Matt Rolain
  • Attention Everybody Who Gets These

The Troop 125 administrative machine does a pretty awesome job most of the time, but every so often we have "opportunities" to do better. It's my theory that everyone agrees maintaining accurate and up-to-date lists and email addresses of who is in the troop and who's in what patrol (then sharing that information) is probably somebody's else's job. I hope to clarify a few things in this message, and do so in very positive, up-beat and friendly manner, so it does not seem like you are all getting slapped around by some ranting knowlege worker.

If you have an email address or know of a new scout you think the Troop should have a record of, please send me an email and I will get the info to Terry Connolly, our commitee chairperson and the guy who keeps the real master list for the troop. Terry then gives me the list and I use it to wire up this emailing service. The way it works is that when Leaders and Scouts who have access "post an announcement" on the web site, email to a mailing list is triggered. This only happens when Announcements are made.

Change to the Web site: we used to have  areas on the front page labeled "Permission Slips" and "High Adventure"  that required manual intervention to get links to appear after a file was loaded. Now we just have one area that shows all recently loaded files. Can't find it there? go to the Files area.

Thanks Everybody! And Great Job T125!

You can reply to this blog, and I, Scott Schuster, your friendly web dude, will get the message at scott.schuster@cvctroop125.org.

  • Great Lakes Council Centennial Rendez-vous Early Bird Reservation - Save $10

The PLC has voted to attend the Council Wide Centennial Rendez-vous next September 24-26, 2010. This Jamboree style event for our council will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the BSA. There will be tons of fun activities to participate in, and a great arena show with live entertainment on Saturday evening, followed by a huge fireworks show. We will camp two nights. Look at these websites for more details:

    http://www.glcscouting.org/rendez-vous/activities.html

    http://www.glcscouting.org/rendez-vous/index.html

You can save at least $10 per person by turning in the following deposit, which is non-refundable (but are transferable to another scout or adult):

    1 person = $25     2 persons = $50     3 persons = $60    4 persons = $75   5 persons = $90   (Scout or adult, same price - must be in same family)

Day visitor fees are $20 for Saturday only.

After Early Registration, all participants cost $35 before Sept. 1, and $40 after that.

About $20 - $25 will be added for troop food and transportation. We can work around Friday night football games, and other sports activities, if necessary.

Get your registration fees to Mr. Verlinde by May 27th. Bring to the troop meeting, patrol meeting, or mail to Dave Verlinde, 5680 N. Livernois, Rochester, MI 48306. You can also use your scout account.

  • White Water Rafting -- Permission Form

    Attention HIgh Adventure Scouts!

Attached is the permission form for the White Water Rafting trip in July that we discussed earlier this year.   I need a $50 deposit by May 31st to lock in the reservation.

Please review and discuss with your parents and get in contact with me.

    Mr. Razzano

P.S.  For those of you planning to attend Adams band camp I have spoken with Mr. Ferden and we have a workaround solution so you can attend this trip and camp as well.  Contact me for details.

  • Ten Dollar Bonus for Scouts going to Summer Camp

The permission slip and money for summer camp is due May 20th.  They may be given directly to me, dropped off at my home or mailed to me: Gary Howard, 1260 Almond Dr. Troy MI 48098.   The scouts who get the money and permission slip to me on or before May 20th will have ten dollars placed into their scout account. • 2010 Troop 125 Bike Hike- Camp Agawam May 21 - 23

It's time for our annual bike hike to Camp Agawam. Prepare your bike and gear for a fun filled weekend while completing some of your biking requirements. Please specify whether you will be participating in the mountain biking or the 50 mile ride. We will depart from Rochester Community House at 6:00 p.m. on Friday the 21st of May and ride back to the Community House on Sunday the 23rd about 1:00 p.m. Your pack/gear for the weekend will be safely transported by a responsible and dedicated driver. :-)

Finally, all scouts not participating in the ride or campout that weekend are welcome to visit at the campsite on Friday and Saturday.

  • Tuesday May 4th Tree Planting

On Tuesday evening, as a part of the Troop Meeting, we will be planting a tree in honor of former ASM Virgil Finney near the Rochester Community House.   As nearly all of you probably know, Virgil passed away last December . . . and we miss him greatly.     We'll be fortunate to have Tracey, Scott, and Josh Finney with us Tuesday.

As announced at the Court of Honor today, anyone in the Troop family is welcome.   We will get started after the opening ceremony of the meeting (7:30) and be done within an hour to allow other parts of the meeting to progress.    And we'll share some pictures and fond memories.

    Hope to see you there!

  • Court of Honor - please read, especially if you were there

Wonderful Court of Honor Sunday. Congratulations again to our new Eagle Scouts - Brad Razzano, Daniel Burlingame, Brandon Sims, and Lucas Mitchell.

Mothers - If your son was awarded an advancement rank at the Court of Honor, he received an advancement card. Attached to that card was a miniature pin representing that badge. This is the mothers pin. You will get one with each rank your son earns. Please be sure to get it from him.

Also, special thanks to JJ Wilson for helping set-up Saturday.

    Mr. V.
